Shizuo didn't waste a moment to yank the door open and walk in. He heard the door close behind him as he strolled right in and right over to Izaya. He placed his hands down on Izaya's desk and huffed.
“Why did you met me? Why did you bail on me? Why wont you give me a chance? I sure as hell hope that this was all worth you breaking your word.” Shizuo said to him and then stood up and crossed his arms over his chest. Now that he had all the questions out of the way he was free to actually maybe relax before he tried to swing at Izaya. Punching that damned rat right square in the mouth was far to tempting in his present state. Oddly enough though it was much easier to resist once all of his questions were out in the open.
Shizuo took in a deep breath before he let it out and forced himself to relax then. He really needed to not own this man more money then he already did.
“Whatever.” he said. “Tell me what you found out then.” he said his tone a lot more relaxed then just a moment ago. He dropped his arms as he walked around and plopped his ass down on Izaya's couch that was sitting there.

Shizuo burst into the room as suddenly as Izaya had expected, though Izaya was a bit surprised he didn't run right for him. Perhaps he should have given Shizuo a little bit more credit in that department. It seemed he had at least a bit of control when it was required to save him some money.
He did, however, immediately bombard him with a barrage of very irritated questions, which was the least Izaya had expected. After all, if Izaya had been the one to get stood up, he wouldn't have been happy either… although in this equation, he was the smart agile one who had needed to sneak into somewhere. If Shizuo had been in his position and had given him sound advice to back off, Izaya liked to think that he would have listened. Throughout his training, understanding his strengths and weaknesses had been key. Izaya knew what he was capable of and he knew what he wasn't capable of. When it came to sneaking and deception, Izaya knew he was well suited for the job, whereas if he needed to throw a lamp post through a brick wall, that was something he'd more than eagerly leave to Shizuo. It was all about utilizing their individual skill sets.
Izaya really was going to formulate an answer for Shizuo, when the man brushed off his own questions and instead just asked him what he'd found.
"Alright, just try to keep up with me." Izaya took a breath and began, "Well, the man I visited wasn't able to give me much, but it was enough. When I went into the negotiations the other day, the one man had introduced himself as Hisao Takahashi. I didn't find anything important when I researched the name, but my friend the other day had a key piece of information for me."
He turned towards his computer then, pulling up a professional-looking American website with the picture of a large, pretty facility at the top of the page.
"The name, Hisao Takahashi, has been used in Japan in cooperation with an American pharmaceutical company named Phizenica," he paused there to let the information settle before continuing. "Now, when I looked up the company, I was able to find a whole bunch of stuff, illegal stuff too. Their facilities produce way more than your average drugs. The public knows them for their allergy and heartburn medications, but… there are secret reports of genetic modification, cloning, and some other crazy shit. They get a pretty sizeable portion of their funding from the US Military, though the money's been so well laundered I could only barely find the connection."
In the short time he'd had to extend his research, that was all the concrete information he'd found. Everything else was speculation, and he made sure to add that disclaimer.
"Beyond that, I can only draw some obvious conclusions. Now, Yuuhei Hanejima seems like a pretty obvious target for a kidnapping. He's famous and rich and you could score a pretty penny for him," Izaya explained in an obvious way, "But that isn't what these guys are after, it can't be. Not only did they ask for a ridiculously small ransom in terms of how popular Yuuhei is, but they called his obviously broke brother instead of his agent or manager or someone with the actual means to pay a hefty fund.
"That means that these guys didn't intend to kidnap the celebrity, Yuuhei Hanejima. The whole time, they were kidnapping Kasuka Heiwajima, YOUR brother. I thought it was weird from the beginning that a group of kidnappers would contact you for a ransom and that they would ask for such a pitiful amount. That has to mean that money was never the goal."

Shizuo nodded a fair bit when he needed to. After Izaya was done rambling, which he almost knew he was done cause he had stopped talking, Shizuo just blinked at him as he tried to let the information settle a bit. He tired to turn the information over and over in his head, he ended up confusing himself a little.
“Yea okay, and?” he asked once Izaya had sat there long enough not saying anything to further the story.
“What else did you learn Izaya? You better tell me everything. You did ditch me today, so spill.” he said in a rather firm tone. What else was Izaya not telling him? He stood there looking down at the darker haired male, just waiting for more information out of him.
There was only one question in the back of his mind right now though. What was it the kidnappers were after, if not money?

He rolled his eyes at the man. Had he never heard of building suspense? Just because he'd paused didn't mean he was suddenly done talking—moreover, he'd completely ruined the buildup of Izaya's presentation by resorting to scolding him like he was a child.
Regardless, Izaya continued, "There's something way more valuable than a half a million dollars to attain here."
"Just think what a military could do with entire leagues of soldiers with enough strength to lift hundreds of pounds each," he said mysteriously, eying Shizuo. "Soldiers with enough strength to launch rockets at the enemies without a bulky weapon, soldiers able to tip over tanks, and crush armor. It'd be pretty terrifying, don't you think?"
He was grinning to himself as he imagined it. It was a terrifying thought, to be honest, but it was also quite genius. If only Izaya hadn't gotten involved their plan might have succeeded. It was probably why they had tried to take him out the other night at the restaurant; they'd been hoping to discourage him from helping before he could figure out their plan and make Shizuo aware of it. Too bad they had failed.
In case his bemused musing wasn't obvious enough for Shizuo (and Izaya wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't, Izaya kept talking and used plain language this time.
"They want you, Shizu," he teased lightly. "They want blood samples and genetic tests, they want to figure out what make you tick, probably so they can figure out how to sell your super strength to the highest bidder. They've probably been circling you for weeks now, trying to figure out how to get you. And I'm sure they realized very quickly that the straight forward approach of asking you was out of the question, and taking you down by force wasn't really an option either. But who better to draw you out with than your little brother? They're making you come to them because they probably have some trap set up for when you get to the exchange."

Shizuo fumbled back and sat down into a chair. He sank down a bit and raised his hands to is head. As all these thoughts swam in his head. So the reason that these pricks kidnapped his little brother was to get to him? He shook his head and sighed trying to process the amount of shit he was just dealt.
After a moment he leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. His brows were narrowed and he felt... almost sick. Did he get sick? He couldn't remember the last time he was actually sick. That wasn't important though.
“What the hell should I do then?” he muttered as he shifted in the chair and looked at Izaya. “I can't just show up there cause of what you said. I bet they were expecting me to do that, and that they'd almost have my blood by now. Though I doubt what they are looking for is in my blood, hell maybe. Fuck.” He sighed as he head fell back down and he rested it on his hands, which rested on his knees.
“I'm sorry Kasuka.” he whispered, “It's all my fault...” he added lightly.

Izaya watched Shizuo intently as he unveiled the information. It was all speculation, of course, but it seemed right. It was the only solution that made all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place effortlessly, and by way of Occam's way, the simplest explanation for events was usually the correct one.
Shizuo was obviously affected by the news. He actually stumbled backwards into a chair, his head fell into his hands as if truly distraught and he actually… looked a little sick. Izaya was very intrigued. More often than not, Shizuo was so stoic. Sure, he had those violent outbursts, but Izaya hardly considered getting ridiculously angry from time to time an obvious display of emotion. So Izaya was quite interested to see Shizuo display something other than irritation or anger or disinterest.
And this was definitely not that. Shizuo looked genuinely… distraught. It was tainted with irritation of course, but it was uniquely irritation based on how helpless he felt concerning the situation, which only became more apparent as Shizuo apologized to someone that wasn't there to hear it, claiming blame for something that wasn't really his fault at all.
Izaya regarded Shizuo quietly for a few minutes. To be honest, he hadn't come up with a plan yet either, otherwise, he'd have no problem waltzing in and stealing all the glory here.
After a moment, he sighed and shook his head, crossing the room towards where Shizuo was sitting, saying in a slightly scolding voice, "Come on, no need to be dramatic."
He sat down opposite Shizuo, mimicking his body position, but looking directly at the man. "It's certainly not all your fault. Sure, you're the one with superpowers, but you can't go and blame yourself for other people being evil or incompetent. The people who kidnapped your brother are at fault. Or maybe the body guards who were supposed to be protecting him. In fact, you probably had the least to do with his kidnapping of anybody."
Izaya then leaned back casually in the chair. "But instead of throwing around blame right now, we should be more focused thinking of how we're going to get Kasuka out of there. At this point, they still have your brother, so it really seems like we don't have a choice but to show up."

Shizuo looked up, “I'm not being dramatic. I am getting over this shit so I can move the hell on and focus on getting my brother back... and in one piece.” He nearly barked at Izaya as he looked up. Noticing now that the darker hair male was sitting near him.
It was kind of odd to have Izaya that close and the urge to hit him was rather non existent. If nothing else that was a rather foreign feeling for him. He shifted around in the seat and sighed.
“Alright, well if we are going in there. I'm going to say that I am safe in assuming we're not charging in guns a blazing.” he said then rubbed his face before he reached into his vest pocket, flicked his wrist and slipped on the shade he had pulled out.
“We need to go in with a plan, more then one plan.” Shizuo didn't need to risk his brother's well fair just cause he was a basket case. He had to handle this better then that. He needed to handle this better then that. Not so much for himself, but cause of his little brother. Seems he had no other choice. He had to continue to trust Izaya in hope he knew what he was doing.

Well, at least Shizuo seemed to agree with him on that one. They definitely needed a plan and having more than one plan was preferable.
The problem here was that Izaya was still grossly underinformed. He wasn't used to analyzing a situation where he only had half the puzzle complete—and here, he wasn't even sure he had that. He didn't often deal with things so far removed from the Tokyo area, and thusly wasn't sure how he was going to best approach this situation. He really despised the idea of admitting that he didn't know exactly what to do though, especially in front of Shizuo.
Izaya knew there would be a trap set up. He knew that when they went for the trade off, that Shizuo would probably have to go in alone, and inside would be some sort of trap to capture the man, but Izaya truly had no idea what. How did this company intend to capture and restrain the strongest man in Ikebukuro?
Regardless, their prime objective here would be to get Kasuka to safety, Izaya knew that much. Until Kasuka was safely gone, Shizuo would probably be more than willing to go along with whatever they had planned, which was probably their smartest move.
"I assume that you're more concerned about Kasuka's safety than your own," Izaya said calmly, "Which means that there's a good chance you're going to have to let yourself get caught. Are you okay with that?"

Shizuo raised his eyebrow up looking at Izaya, “Caught as in how?” He asked wanting to be clear. He wanted to be sure their term for getting caught was the same. Not that he couldn't handle his own or anything, he knew he could. Just thinking about Kasuka trapped there was enough to get his blood boiling.
“You are right though, I do care more about his then my own. He's all I really have after all.” Shizuo said as he raised his arm up and ran his finger lightly through his hair.
At this point he was over the fact that he had to work with Orihara, he just wanted his brother back.
“So would be the plan in getting myself caught?” he asked. Surely Izaya wouldn't just dangle him from a building and offer him up as bait. If he was suggesting such a thing he must have had a plan behind it, so he hoped at least.

Izaya let out a soft huff, wondering how he should explain himself. After all, this plan was half-baked at best… but unfortunately for the both of them, the oven was broken and there didn't seem to be anything Izaya could do to ensure that a flawless plan be set in place. He was working with an incomplete puzzle here—there were some crucial pieces missing and without them, Izaya couldn't get a complete picture, which did cause a problem here. He wasn't sure how to anticipate the company's actions. Izaya hadn't had much experience with Americans, he didn't know how they would do things and therefore couldn't anticipate how they planned on capturing and restraining Shizuo.
His assumption about Shizuo was right, at least, though any idiot probably could have guessed that Kasuka was more important to Shizuo than his own wellbeing. It hadn't exactly been an expert deduction on Izaya's part. Though… Izaya wouldn't agree that Kasuka was all Shizuo had, not by far.
"Here's what I figure," he said, explaining what little he'd deduced in hos this would go down. "They'll want you to go in alone with the ransom money for the trade. They'll have something set up probably to restrain you and guarantee they have you before they'll let Kasuka free, since you're their target. I'll be waiting outside, so once they release Kasuka, I can have an escape route to get him to safety, and once he's out of harm's way, I guess you can break free, or if need be, I can come in and rescue you."

“So wait.” Shizuo sat back and sighed. “Let me get this straight. You want to send me in with the money. Let them trap me, then we just hope they release Kasuka. How will I know that be getting myself trapped will be worth it. I need some way of knowing that Kasuka was let go and safe. I mean I'm sure I can get myself out. But I need to be sure that once I am caught they don't kill him. That why actually let him go.”
He grumbled and let his head fall back as he sat there. His head was swimming with the idea that something might happen to his little brother cause he just waltzed in there and gave them what they wanted. Course there was no way he was going to be stuck in there and need Izaya's help. He refused to let the flea help him more then he had to.
Shizuo sat up and ran his hand through his hair. He really need a cigarette after all this. He started to pad down his pockets, his hands shaking a little.
“I just need him to be save...” He muttered as he pulled out his pack of smokes and held them, not looking up to meet Izaya's gaze.

As Shizuo recounted the plan, step-by-step, to him, Izaya nodded shortly to let him know he was following him correctly.
And of course, they had no real guarantee. As far as Izaya could tell, there usually wasn't a guarantee in kidnapping situations of any sort, even ones where police got involved. A kidnapping generally required one to put trust in someone who really hadn't proven themself to be all that trustworthy, considering. Izaya didn't see a way around this though. If they didn't do what the kidnappers instructed, it was far more likely that Kasuka would be hurt than if they gave in and Shizuo allowed himself to be captured, so Izaya's plot was based on statistics more than anything, though he didn't think it was an unreasonable conclusion to make.
Reasoning it out though, it wouldn't make much sense for the kidnappers to injure or kill Kasuka, and Izaya voiced his reasoning aloud. "Your brother will probably be fine. The way I see it, killing Kasuka would only draw unnecessary attention to the situation. Sure, you're a bit infamous around Ikebukuro, but you don't have any real sort of celebrity status. If you get abducted and go missing, a few people will find it strange, and they might ask around about you, but they probably won't do too much about it or really look into it at all." Realizing that his words might be considered a bit… harsh, he added quickly, "No offense or anything.
"I just mean that, unlike you, Yuuhei Hanejima is a national celebrity. If he goes missing, the entire nation begins a manhunt, which means clues will be eventually found that trace his disappearance back to their company, which is absolutely not something they want. To avoid media attention, they pretty much have to release him safely once they have you, probably under the threat that if he tries to save you or look into where they've taken you, that they'll kill you or something to that effect. Either way, they can't risk hurting your brother because they're hoping to go unnoticed."

"Well yea if it gets out there is going to be a huge story about it and then suddenly my brother is in the light for all the wrong reasons and I can't have that." Shizuo sighed then shook the back of smokes and raised his hand up to his mouth. He pulled one out and then put the rest of the pack away. He pulled out his lighter from the inner side of his vest and flipped it over and over in his hand, clearly in deep thought.
He sighed, "I don't really care so much what happens to me. But I can't let anything happen to him. Not if I can stop it." You raise your hand up and flick the lighter before stopping.
"Can I even smoke in here?" He asked pulling the cigerette from his lips, looking at Izaya. He needed nothing to calm the nerves before they went through with this.

Well, Izaya was at least relieved that Shizuo seemed to grasp the situation--and that Izaya's remark about his relative non-importance hadn't been taken to heart. After all, Izaya hadn't been trying to say that no one would care if Shizuo went missing, just that the nation at large would have ignored it. No, Izaya knew Shizuo was very important to a handful of people, who would absolutely mourn his loss if he were to suddenly disappear.
Izaya would never admit that he would be among them. He might just die before he admitted that.
"I'd normally say no, but because I'm such a nice guy, I won't stop you," Izaya said, feinting helplessness. It wasn't like his office wasn't already going to smell of tobacco for days just because Shizuo was here and the stress had been leading him to smoke like a chimney, it's not like smoking one cigarette would make it that much worse.
He shook his head vaguely, then returned to the topic at hand. "Well, the unfortunate news is that I've turned up as much information as I can with my current resources, so the intel we have is pretty much as good as it gets. The only thing more we can do would be to scope out the exchange location, ideally with some discretion. Have you heard anything from the kidnappers since earlier?"
Izaya doubted that he had, after the conversation earlier in the afternoon confirming all the terms, but it didn't hurt to ask.

Shizuo looked away as he replaced the smoke between his lips and dug out the lighter from his vest and lit the end. He slipped the lighter back and breathed out slowly as he removed the cigarette.
Glancing around the office space he spotted a couch to sit on. Walking over he did just that. Sat on the edge of the couch and took another hit of his smoke. “Alright so we can scope out the location, but I have another question for you.”
“How do we oh I don’t know, make sure I don’t actually end up kidnapped and taken away.” He said, raising an eyebrow as he looked at Izaya taking another hit from his smoke before pulling it away and slowly breathing out.
