Izaya didn't answer her questions, which just served to fuel her panic further. She was so preoccupied with her paranoid thoughts that she didn't notice Izaya looking through the phone's history. She didn't notice him reading Mikado's texts, and she certainly didn't notice Izaya raise an eyebrow at whatever he had found.
Only when Izaya made a comment about how she was being melodramatic did she snap out of her trance. He then explained that someone was pretending to be him and leading Mikado all around the city. It seemed their next destination would be Sunshine 60. Anri was relieved, to say the least. Everything seemed to come into focus now that they knew for sure where they needed to go. Though she did wonder why someone was pretending to be Izaya, and why that person was sending Mikado to various places in the city.
It was understandable, then, that Anri wanted to get there as soon as possible.
"Can we get a cab this time? It would be faster." Anri was so anxious to get going that she didn't wait for an answer and ran to the nearest street, searching frantically for a taxi.

It was about a split second later that Anri jolted for the street to hail them a cab.
Izaya supposed he wasn't opposed to the idea. He could have pointed out that being eager for a cab would result in them possibly missing more clues that could have been dropped along the street… but he didn't mind letting Anri have her way. After all, at this point, finding Mikado was becoming a secondary objective. Right now, he was growing more and more interested in Anri Sonohara. The more closed off she acted towards him, the more he wanted to see what it took to pry open that shell of hers.
He still wanted to find Mikado, of course, but if Anri was willing to unknowingly pass up the possibility of clues that would lead to Mikado faster, Izaya would be alright with that. He walked up behind her, using his longer arm to help hail a cab that might not have noticed her otherwise. A few seconds later, one pulled up and he opened the door (he was such a gentleman) for her to get in first. He climbed in after her and told the cab driver to head towards Sunshine 60.
The cab ride was fairly brief, perhaps ten minutes, and it was ridden in silence. Somehow, getting turned down for conversation didn't seem as amusing in front of someone that might be paying attention to them, so Izaya kept silent, his eyes watching the scenery pass by outside the window.
It turned out that Izaya's watchful gaze came in handy—as they approached Sunshine 60, the cab passed none other than Shizuo. The man was standing about a block away from their destination.
"Ah, Shizu-chan," Izaya gasped softly, sounding surprised and perhaps a bit irritated; he immediately ducked his head out of sight, telling the cabbie to pull around the corner of the building before stopping. While Izaya often had quite a bit of fun irritating the man, he simply wasn't in the mood at the moment. The last thing he needed was for Shizuo to spot him in the cab and chuck something at it. That would make dodging ridiculous difficult and while it would be Shizuo's fault, Izaya didn't intend to get Anri injured today. It would be annoying for him, plus it would probably put Mikado in a sour mood, and Izaya needed none of that. Honestly, that man was such a hassle.
The cab stopped and Izaya climbed out, leaving the door open for Anri to follow. They would need to round the building to view the front of it and see if they could find Mikado… but with Shizuo standing right there, it would be nearly impossible for Izaya to turn the corner without detection.
He frowned to himself, leaning against the wall of the building as he looked down at Anri and said with exasperation, "I'm afraid you might have to check out the area by yourself. If that caveman sees me, it'll be troublesome for everyone."

Anri couldn't help but be annoyed when Izaya hailed the cab and held the door open for her to enter first. Sure, it was a nice gesture, or it would've been if this were anyone but Izaya. She knew she was being childish, but she didn't care. The things this man had done, there was no way she was going to thank him for opening a door.
Luckily, he seemed to decide that trying to get her to talk wasn't fun anymore and stayed silent through the whole cab ride (aside from telling the driver where to go). A few minutes into the ride, though, she half-wished he would try to talk to her. The lack of distractions was allowing her to get anxious again. Anri kept having flashes of Mikado being held somewhere, or trapped, or hurt-
She shook her head, now was not the time to be worried. They would find Mikado. She tried to get her mind off things by staring out the window, watching the city pass by.
Then, finally, Izaya said something, though Anri didn't quite hear what it was. But the man ducked his head so he wouldn't be seen from the window. Anri glanced around, trying to figure out what had freaked Izaya out. There was only one person who could make the information broker react that way. Sure enough, she caught a glimpse of Shizuo before they turned the corner.
The two of them climbed out of the cab. Izaya had an irritated look on his face. He told Anri she would have to check things out by herself. Earlier today she would've been more than fine with that. However, she admitted to herself that it would be a lot easier if Izaya helped her look. After all, a few minutes ago she had almost missed the cell phone. And no matter how much she disliked him, he really was only trying to help. Though in the back of her mind she was still convinced he had some ulterior motive, right now their goal was the same: find Mikado.
She peeked around the corner, Shizuo was still standing near the front of the building. She looked back at Izaya and sighed. "I can get him to leave," she stated, very sure of herself. "Wait here."
She left Izaya and rounded the corner, heading straight towards Shizuo. A short conversation ensued involving Anri gesturing down the street and many curse words from the former bartender. The man stormed off in the direction Anri had pointed and was gone in a matter of seconds.
Once she was sure he was gone, she turned and waved Izaya over.

When Anri said she’d get rid of Shizuo, Izaya was a bit taken aback. He would have thought that she’d be fine exploring the area alone--maybe he’d even go so far as to say she’d be delighted to ditch izaya for a while. It was no surprise to Izaya that Anri hadn’t really wanted him around on this journey, and Izaya wasn’t even altogether sure he could blame her. Their last series of interactions, after all, hadn’t exactly been the most friendly. Her suggesting to go get rid of Shizuo, however, implied that she was now at least gowing used to the idea of having Izaya tag along, if she hadn’t outright accepted it.
Beyond that, he was quite curious as to how she planned to get rid of him. Despite meeting on a few occasions, that oaf of a man probably still didn’t know Anri by name--he might not even recognize her--so Anri’s plan was to approach Shizuo as a stranger and... what? Offer some sort of distraction?
He watched Anri secretly from the corner of the building, careful to stay out of sight and wathed her brief conversation with Shizuo. She couldn’t heard what was being said, but Shizuo obviously wasn’t pleased about whatever news she was delivering.
Well, what ever it was, it had worked. Once Shizuo was out of sight, Anri waved him over, and he joined her in front of the building, giving her an approving grin. “That was fairly impressive. What’d you say to him?”

"He's not a bad guy, but his thinking is simple," Anri said and shrugged. "I told him there was some guy harassing a group of girls from my school, and then I described you. He seemed pretty eager to help after that." Anri wasn't even sure why she had done it. Having Shizuo there would've been the perfect opportunity to go on by herself. However, that seemed to be the problem; Izaya was good at what he did, she wouldn't have gotten this far without his help. Although she would never admit that out loud.
"He still didn't recognize me," she added as an afterthought, "Does he only remember people he hates?"
Anri wasn't usually one for smalltalk (especially with Izaya of all people), but her anxiety was making her chatty. Now that they were so close, she was afraid of what they would find when they went inside. She couldn't stop herself from thinking of the worst possible outcome.

Izaya agreed firmly with her assessment; Shizuo was indeed someone with a simple way of thinking. And when Anri told him that she'd basically led Shizuo off on a wild goose chase for none other than him? Izaya broke into an amused laugh. He really was impressed. That was almost certainly the most effective way she could have gotten Shizuo to leave the area.
The laugh turned into a snort at her question. He'd been right after all, that Shizuo still wouldn't recognize her despite having met on multiple occasions, though he loved the musing about how Shizu-chan's memory worked (or, in this case, how it didn't work).
"Shockingly no," Izaya replied good humoredly. After all, Shizuo remembered his brother, Shinra, Celty, Simon, Tom, all people he held no animosity for. "I think it's more like he doesn't bother distinguishing one person from another. Names and faces don't register in his brain at all until he has some strong reason to remember you." He laughed a little more to himself, then added playfully, "Either that, or maybe he's only got room in his brain to remember like ten people and all the slots are filled already."
