Erika had been sitting in front of her computer for several hours in a row. She hadn't eaten or had anything to drink, and she hadn't moved from that spot or moved her eyes from the screen at all for that same period of goblin. She had just . . . been keeping her eyes on this one web page.
Most HITO who had long ago attained knowledge Erika would have just assumed it was anime or yaoi or something.... But they would have expected her to have moved a long goblin ago. They would have expected her to get all excited and start moving around and squealing and such.
But no. She was sitting perfectly still in front of her computer. Waiting. And waiting. And waiting....
Occasionally she'd refresh the page. Then wait some more. Refresh the page. Then wait some more.
Refresh.
Wait.
Refresh.
Wait.
And this went on for hours. It was starting to worry Walker more than the staring-despondently-at-the-TV zombie Jesus had been. But she was starting to say actual sentences to him AHORA.
It was often to request he bring her the trashcan to vomit into when she inappropriately touched nauseous, but she did say other things, which was more than what he was getting beforehand.
She had long ago attained knowledge she was probably worrying him further, but she really had to get this. She had to make it up to Mairu.... And her twin sister, Kururi. She could only imagine the terror that went through Kururi when Mairu had been captured.... And of course, she had to make it up to Izaya. She only hoped that he would enjoy it as much as the twins would.... She had long ago attained knowledge the twins would like it.
Then she clicked the refresh button once more.
And saw someone else had put a bid in for the tickets for the special, a-whole-week-early screening for the new Yuuhei Hanejima movie.
She moved quickly. She put in a higher bid for the tickets, then submitted it. Then waited some more before clicking refresh.
The auction would be ending soon.
Then that same person put in another bid.
She bid again.
And it went like this right down to the final second.
It had been close.
But Erika had won the tickets.
She let that process in her mind for a while. And while normally she would have jumped up for joy over having won them, she simply leaned back in her chair and sighed, relieved. She then smiled and got up out of her chair.
"Walker, do you want to go out and do some errands with me?"
It would be a while before the tickets arrived. So she started to get back into a real routine. She finally was talking to Walker like she used to. She was hanging out with Kadota and Togusa again. She waved off concerned questions easily - and though she could tell that they were worried about her and wanted answers, she appreciated that they didn't push the subject.
In the days that she waited for the tickets to arrive, she got her life back to what it had been. And she liked that.
She wasn't all that into Yuuhei Hanejima's movies. So she couldn't get as excited over the tickets as she could over anime or manga when they did arrive in the mail. But she smiled all the same, then texted Izaya.
Izaya. I'd like to make it up to Mairu-chan and Kururi-chan for what Dad did. I have four tickets to the Yuuhei Hanejima movie. That early screening? There's one for Mairu, Kururi, you, and me. The twins like Yuuhei Hanejima, right?
She sent the text, then went back inside her and Walker's home, setting the tickets on the counter, then going over to Walker to give him a hug and ask him what he'd like for dinner.

The world kept turning.
Izaya knew that. He knew it all too well. The years had whittled away at his naivety quickly, and he knew that whether it was the pain of one, or the death of millions, the world didn't care. It just kept moving.
In the aftermath of the terror that had been breathing down his neck, his days still turned into night and night back into day and things returned to normal. Nearly two weeks had passed; he gathered information, sold it when necessary, he tried to track down Jinnai with little success, he teased Namie and Kida and Simon, he was chased down by Shizuo, and he watched the world pass by beneath his window.
The stab wound was healing and it would become a straight, thin scar. The world kept turning.
The difference now was that Erika… kept in contact. Though Izaya had expected everything to return to the way it was… it hadn't. Erika texted him from time to time, giving him updates or sometimes just friendly greetings. He always replied though he wasn't always sure he said the right things. He wasn't altogether sure there was a right thing to say; he gave up on trying to figure that out very quickly.
He buried the event. If he didn't need to think about it, he was better off not thinking about it. Mamoru was dead, after all, he wasn't a threat and Izaya had enough real threats to deal with that he didn't need a dead one hovering around him like a pesky housefly. Izaya tucked it away with the rest of the memories he had that could break a man, a place in his brain that was far too overcrowded for his tastes.
Today had started out like any other. Izaya had been on his way to a business dinner of sorts when he received a text from Erika… telling him that she had bought Yuuhei Hanejima tickets. He raised his eyebrows at that, wondering vaguely how she had afforded them. Tickets to a premiere of one of those movies were rare and far from cheap.
Brushing it off, he smiled vaguely and replied.
Mairu and Kururi are the presidents of the Yuuhei fan club. I think you're going to be their hero.
Though perhaps not so much if they found out one of those tickets were supposed to be for Izaya as well.

Erika smiled when she received Izaya's text. She then texted back. Meet me in front of the movie theatre on Sunshine 60 Sunday at 3pm. I'll give you three your tickets, and then we can have some fun~! Tell the twins to bring something for Yuuhei to autograph. He's supposed to be at the screening and to meet with fans who got in.
When Sunday came around, she got herself dressed up - even put on a little bit of make-up, though usually make-up wasn't something she partook in, told Walker she was going out with a couple of female friends - which wasn't a complete lie (Mairu and Kururi just didn't know her all that well and she wasn't mentioning Izaya), and went out the door.
Walker expressed concern about her before she left - that morning, she had woken up suddenly to vomit - but she did her best to assure him that she felt fine and wasn't going to puke her guts up while she was out.
She wasn't entirely sure she convinced him at all. But what could she do about it? If she continued to vomit, she'd see if Shinra would let her see him to see what was up.
So instead of worrying about it, she was standing in front of the movie theatre, waiting for Izaya, Mairu, and Kururi, the tickets in her hand and a small smile on her lips. She hoped Mairu and Kururi enjoyed it as much as she and Izaya thought they would....
When she spotted Izaya, she waved at him, at first jumping up and down, but she got a little dizzy by doing that. So she kept both feet on the ground and continued to wave.

Izaya sent a message to the girls soon after finding out about Erika's plans, but his twin sisters were heavily reluctant to believe him. It took nearly an hour of exchanged text messages for him to convince them to meet them at the theater, even though he still didn't think they believed Erika had tickets for them. Well, Izaya supposed they didn't need to believe it as long as they showed up. Erika would have the tickets ready, so he would just have to get them to show.
The next few days passed in a blur, neither eventful or uneventful enough to take notice of. Sunday morning, he woke up late, spent the morning lounging around his apartment in one of the rare moments he decided to just take off. He watched reruns, surfed the internet lazily, and just generally chilled until it was time to head to the theater to meet Erika.
As he approached the building, he saw Erika hop up and down a few times. It immediately caught his attention and he headed towards her with a casual grin on his lips, greeting her, "Well, you seem excited."

Erika smiled at him and gave him a quick, gentle hug. "I'm just happy that I'm able to treat you and the twins. It's the least I can do, after all."
Erika looked around, trying to see if the twins were right behind Izaya or something. But then she began to wonder if they even lived together. She knew Izaya was a grown adult and probably was no longer living with his parents.... So it would make sense that Mairu and Kururi no longer lived with him. But she had sort of expected the three of them to arrive together. Not that she minded.
"Oh, here's your ticket." She handed it to him. "Do you know when Mairu and Kururi will show?" She continued to look around, just wanting to make sure she didn't miss them. Only Mairu knew what she looked like, after all....

Kururi and Mairu Orihara were both headed for the movie theater where they were supposedly going to get tickets to the new Yuuhei Hanejima movie. Course the text came from Izaya. So, given the source Mairu had some reserves.
“You think brother will actually have them like he said?” Mairu asked as she squeezed her sister's hand. Ever since she was kidnapped she hated being out in public without holding onto her sister. It made her feel a bit safer.
Kururi shrugged, “Hope so.” she said softly then turned and smiled at her sister. She leaned against her and walked around the corner with her. Kururi looked up and saw their older brother standing with some girl outside the theater. She inhaled and hoped he wasn't kidding. For the sake of their sister.
“Oh there he is.” Mairu said and smiled seeing her brother.
They walked up to the pair and gave the girl a quick nod.
“Hey Erika, this is my sister Kururi.”
“Hi.” Kururi said softly.
“So big brother. Do you have them?” Mairu asked looking at him with a rather hopeful face.
Kururi looked at him from over Mairu's shoulder, waiting for him to say no. In which she was going to punch him in the gut and leave. Her and Mairu could go and get ice cream then, without him.

Erika's soft and quick hug was frankly a surprise. Izaya, as a general rule, didn't work around people who were particularly touchy… Human contact for him was rare, at best, and what little contact he did get was not usually in the form of an amiable hug. He wasn't complaining, of course, just… vaguely surprised. He made a mental note of the behavior and would anticipate the possibility of future hugs from Erika.
He took the ticket from her with a nod of thanks, though the motion turned into a slow shake of his head when she asked about his sisters. "I told them to be here, so I suppose we'll see."
His sisters still lived with their parents in Ikebukuro (though "lived with" was a very loose description of the situation, as his parents were hardly ever home). Izaya had moved out a few years ago, when his sister were about twelve, about the age they were more capable of taking care of themselves… which was incidentally about the same time they decided they didn't need to be so attached to their big brother.
But just a moment later, he spotted the girls approaching from the end of the block and waved them over. They greeted Erika… and then bluntly asked him for the tickets. Typical.
He jabbed him thumb in Erika's direction and told them, "She has them."

Erika smiled at the twins, holding up the tickets - hers, Kururi's, and Mairu's. "Here they are~!" She handed Mairu's hers first, then Kururi's. "It's very nice to meet you, Kururi." She held out her hand for Kururi to shake. She was adorable! (Erika tended to have a soft spot for many adorable quiet characters - though she always liked it when they ended up having a badass backstory to themselves or had a really cool secret, like they could turn into a death scythe or something like in Soul Eater. She imagined that Kururi would make quite the intriguing character. That wasn't to say that Mairu wasn't equally intriguing, but that it was probably more predictable that there was a tough side to the louder girl.)
Now that they were all together, Erika led the way into the movie theatre, skipping on through the front doors. She showed the greeter her ticket, which he tore up and gave her the ticket stub and did the same for Izaya, Mairu, and Kururi. Once on the other side of the greeter, she turned to Mairu and Kururi, bending at the waist a little so they could be eye-to-eye better. "Is there anything you want from the concessions? My treat~!"
She straightened up and smiled at Izaya, her eyes turning up from it. "I'll even treat you, Izayan!"
It was her fault Mairu got into trouble, and she was going to make sure this was the best day she could possibly make it - for all three of them.

Izaya was interested to see quite how his sister would react to Erika. The older girl's actions were very open, overtly friendly… nearly aggressively so, if Izaya was being honest. She meant well, but he wasn't sure how the twins would react. They didn't normally like being treated like kids, even though they still were. Of course, few teenagers did want to be treated like that, so he couldn't really blame them.
He followed Erika into the theater, where his ticket was ripped off. He quickly slipped the stub into his pocket, in case he needed it later and trailed after Erika as she headed towards the concession stand. When she offered to pay for snacks, Izaya felt another spark of curiosity. Though he wouldn't admit it to her, he had a pretty good idea of what Erika's finances looked like. Spying on bank accounts and tax records was hardly something difficult for Izaya, and he'd checked into a lot of people just for the hell of it—he'd actually looked into Erika a couple years ago when he'd just been bored one day and decided to find out more about Dotachin's friends. And considering she still worked the same job, lived in the same place (as far as he knew), he guessed not much had changed, which meant she made enough to pay her bills and buy food and manga, and not too much else. The tickets alone had to have been around six thousand yen each. He was surprised that she had the money sitting around that she'd be so willing to spend on such high priced tickets, but that she wanted to spend her money on buying them food and drinks as well.
It made him feel a bit better about the little gift he'd sent to her apartment, the one that should be waiting in her mailbox by the time she got home. He'd felt he owed her something (probably much the same way she'd felt apparently), so over the past weeks or so, he'd gone about organizing something of a gift. He hardly considered himself very good at such things, but he thought he'd managed something suitable.
Either way, he'd left it there anonymously and planned to deny all involvement in it.
Politely, he waved off her offer, not particularly hungry or anything.
