Ikebukuro Chainsaw Massacre: Behind the Scenes

Namie stood on top of the pedestal, holding a clipboard in one hand and a megaphone in the other. She crossed her arms and was tapping her foot as she waited impatiently for people to gather and quiet down.

“Alright, alright, that’s enough talking. Settle down. Ahem, so most of the cast of our movie, ‘Ikebukuro Chainsaw Massacre,’ has been set. We’ll need your opinions on who will be filling the remaining spots. So listen up for your names, and if you haven’t been called, you may volunteer to fill the remaining spots.

First we have Mikado as our generic, unlikely to survive protagonist. I thought of having Seiji as our main character, but decided it was too dangerous. So instead, he’ll be our lovely cameraman.

Next we have Anri as the generic love interest of the protagonist with huge boobs. No argument there.

We also have Celty as our special effects; her shadows will be handy for many scenes.

Kida and Simon will be our male comedy relief who dies during the movie. Mairu and Kururi will be the mischievous twins who switch from the good to bad several times, before facing the same fate as the previous two.

Saki will be the ghost girl who will appear several times in the movie, but never explained as to what relevance she has to the plot.

Kasuka will be Anri’s love interest who dies early in the film, leaving her available for the main protagonist.

Now we have Shizuo as our stuntman, as his unnatural strength will help him handle intense situations.

Izaya will be our… ‘fake’…corpses. Plural.

Shinra will aid me with make-up on our prop corpse, so he can look like several different people.”

She glanced up at the cast briefly to check they had heard. It wasn’t as if she was willing to slow down or repeat herself, but she checked nevertheless.

“And we only have one remaining spot available for our chainsaw-wielding villain. However, since it is such an important part, we’ll need someone to fill it immediately. If anyone is willing to fill in for the position, have questions or complains, speak up now.”

Anri listened quietly as Namie announced everyone's parts. She blushed slightly when her breasts were mentioned but didn't speak out against it. Anri herself couldn't really deny their size. In fact, if she stood up and looked down, she was fairly certain she wouldn't be able to see her toes.

She briefly wondered why she had agreed to do this in the first place. She looked over at Mikado, who would be playing the lead as well as her love interest, and supposed he was why she wanted to do this. Lately she had been having...feelings for him. She didn't know what they were. Love maybe? But that was impossible. She shook her head and turned her attention to the script she had in her grasp. Anri was much too afraid to flip through it so she hadn't even started memorizing her lines yet.

"U-um...Miss Namie? Do we get any time to practice?" she asked nervously, running her fingers along the binding of the script. Her face flushed at the thought of having scenes alone with Mikado. I don't really think I'm cut out for this role, she thought to herself. If she was nervous now, she could only imagine how she would feel in front of the camera.

She really hoped this movie was worth all the trouble.

Unlikely to survive protagonist?!

Mikado sighed to himself and had his shoulders slump. He had thought he finally hit the jackpot when he was asked to play the lead role in this new movie, but now he was all depressed because he was just a replacement for this ridiculous director who just didn’t want to see her brother get hurt.

Was it really necessary for her to be this overprotective?

Seiji was a grown man and could protect himself, why did Mikado have to be the spare goat? He really just didn’t see the justice in that logic.

He lifted up his head as he heard the rest of the roles get called out and his spirits perked up a little. He turned and watched Anri get the lead female role that was going to be his love interest. His cheeks flushed pink at that lovely thought.

Mikado has always had a crush on Anri, even from before her boobs decided to show up and announce themselves to the world. He liked her for her personality and not her looks, those just happened to be a bonus. When he heard Anri ask the director if there was going to be any ‘practice time’ his cheeks flushed and even darker shade of red.

Me…with Anri? Practicing love scenes? Oh god I hope I remember my lines if not I’m going to like a complete idiot and get fired from the movie…

He had no questions for Namie the director, he just couldn’t wait to start shooting.

Shizou sat there in the corner and crossed his feet at the ankle. He really didn't care one way or another why he was here or what he had to do. The one and only reason he was here, was because of his brother.

Kasuka had approached him a few weeks back and ask him to help out with the role. Course he had no idea that meant he'd actually have to do something. Then again what else would he possibly have been good at.

He shifted in the chair and waited. He understood his place in the moves and knew that only his name would appear at the end, and that he'd be dressed like all the other people doing flips, jumps and other said stunt-like things.

Though the more he thought about it the more he supposed it might be worth it. After all his job only paid so much and what was the big deal about some extra cash flowing in this month.

On the note of the lead antagonist he hadn't the slightest clue on who would be best for the job. So he just sat there, arms cross, ankles crossed and waited.

Kida watched the woman excitedly from his place with Saki, Sonohara, and Mikado. He had always thought he looked good enough to be in a film production, but every time he had ever auditioned for a part in a movie, the casting agency had called him “Over dramatic”. It wasn’t his fault they didn’t love the KIDA PERSONALITY™. It sort of sucked that they had given Mikado the romance lead, but with Saki in the movie as well, at least there wouldn’t be any awkward moments. It would actually be fun to watch his friend flirt with a girl.

Kida looked over at Saki, wondering exactly what she might do for the movie. The way she looked currently was haunting. Maybe he could be a ghost too after he got ripped to shreds by the chainsaw-wielding monster man.

‘Speaking of which’ the boy thought to himself. ‘Who is playing the chainsaw villain?’

The obvious choice to Kida was Orihara Izaya. He was easy to imagine roaming the streets, knocking people down. Still, he had been announced as playing the part of “Corpse(s)”, a part which Masaomi had no protest to. Kicking around dead Izayas sounded fun.

Still, he watched the people around him, wondering how exactly things would play out…


At least they would probably let him write his own pickup lines.

"S-sorry!" Shinra shouted, running into the studio and dropping a rather large bag on the floor where it landed with an audible thump. He put his hands on his knees and bent over, gasping for breath. "I...ran as fast as I could, but it took me a while because...I had to search the entire place looking for the make-up."

He picked up the (rather heavy) bag and heaved it onto a nearby desk. The zipper on the bag came open as Shinra's fingers fumbled to get a grasp on it and all sorts of different types of make-up came tumbling out, ranging from lipsticks to eyeliners, from mascaras to blushes, and from powders to eyebrow pencils, including a bunch of other stuff.

"I had to hide it all from Celty because I knew she wouldn't approve of me keeping all this make-up," he explained. "Of course, I could have just explained that they were all for the movie, but I don't know if she would have accepted that. Oh wait, she's in the movie, isn't she...?" He rested his chin in his palm, lost in thought. "Oh well! I have all sorts of things in this bag; see, look!"

Shinra picked up the bag and held it upside down, allowing the different types of make-up to pour out and collect in one large pile; some clattering onto the floor. After a few seconds, he shook the bag for good measure, then placed it on the ground when he was sure there were none left. He reached down and picked up the items that fell onto the floor and placed them back into the mountain of a pile.
