I'm going to discuss a rumor I heard about the novel that may be a spoiler. So I suggest you scroll or click away if you don't want to read spoilers. xD

My friend apparently read an interview with Narita where he stated Izaya will commit suicide much later in the novel. Muuuuch later. I heard this really long ago, and I failed to receive the actual link of the source. I'm going to have to ask her for it later.

I believe it though, because after hearing this, I realized it's already been hinted at. For example:

That's a translation of the opening dialogue Izaya has in his cover song, Subarashii Hibi, which can be found here:

In the dialogue, he's basically talking to Namie about how he is forever 21. She says something spiteful, and Izaya laughs and asks if she can imagine him old.

But, unlike me, Namie apparently answers no. Izaya then states that it proves he will either stay young forever, or he will just not live that long.

Woah. Woah there woah. Bro okay you clearly already have something in mind.

Could it be that he fails and loses to a point of suicide? Or does he finally achieve his goal of waking the head? Maybe he just says "screw it" to everything?

Does it mean the novel will come to an end as he, the main conflict, dies?
