Short Bio: When Anri was young, her father started an antiques business. Unfortunately, it never got off the ground and he took out his frustrations on his wife and daughter. He constantly abused them and because of this Anri started to close her heart, forbidding herself from loving anyone. On a particularly bad day, her father had started to choke her and seemed intent on killing her. That was when the Slasher appeared, it was Anri's mother being controlled by Saika. She killed her husband and after reminding Anri that she loved her, killed herself. Anri didn't mourn her parents, she wasn't even sad about it. It was then she noticed the katana her mother had been wielding. She walked over curiously and grabbed the handle. It was at that point she became in control of Saika. Saika was not able to take her over because Anri could no longer love, and all Saika wants is to love humans. This allowed Anri to take control of the blade without being possessed by it. She is shown to have great control over it and is actually a skilled swordsman.
After these events, she became friends with Mika Harima. Though Anri states later that they weren't so much friends as people using each other. Both Anri and Mika used each other to make themselves look better and Anri also says that Mika gave her a reason to seek out people and social interaction. When Mika disappeared, Anri felt like she had lost her path.
After meeting Kida and Mikado, she comes to rely on the two for companionship. She becomes aware of their feelings for her but feels she is incapable of love and is unable to return them.
During a part of the series, it is thought that Niekawa Haruna was the Slasher, but Anri shows up and proves this false, revealing she is the true holder of Saika. After defeating Niekawa, she gains control of all the "children" the imitation Saika had made. Soon after, she decides to use her newfound army to help in any way she can. She then discovers Kida's true identity as the leader of the Yellow Scarves. She uses her "children" to get information and at one point, to stop the Yellow Scarves from hurting Dollars members.
Personality: At first, Anri appears to be quite shy and not very social. She's quiet and timid and doesn't seem very confident in herself. Despite that, she quickly becomes friends with Mikado and Kida and seems to be quite close to them. Because of her past, she is unable to love and considers herself a parasite. She uses people, as seen with Mika, to better herself.
Fighting Ability: Anri's favorite subject is P.E. and she's able to hold her own in a fight. On top of that, it's implied that Saika taught Anri how to fight which is shown by her fighting ability with the katana.
Other: In episode 25 (the OVA), Anri begins to show signs of having a crush on Mikado when she begins to blush when the subject is mentioned.
