There was probably some sort of masochism that was sitting around, waiting for Izaya to either just do it or snap out of it. Part of him was hoping that he was going to snap out of it soon, but Kida had never been that lucky, so it became a waiting game until Izaya simply needed a second or needed his body discovered.
Of course, Kida also forgot what a stubborn bastard Izaya could be.
Despite the obviousness that he was clutching at straws, tiny excuses to keep himself from dying, Kida saw that Izaya was letting himself fall apart. He was pretty sure Saki and Namie were seeing the same, but as for the rest, he had no clue. The thought of contacting Shizuo again and trying to see if they could get that plan of his rolling might help. Then again, so would an intervention, but no matter how you went around the mulberry bush, eventually the weasel was going to pop, and so, if he could get the monkey to encourage it, the sooner he could get along with his own life and hope that eventually there would be less fear of Izaya deciding to stuff his emotions down his own throat and becoming a zombie.
Tracking Shizuo down was about as easy as finding the general route of debt collector Tanaka Tom, who Kida knew from sources to be Shizuo's boss. he just needed to wander the streets of Ikebukuro while Izaya was too busy drowning in his problems and wait. Eventually, he would find the older blond, and he could talk to him.
It was just...if anyone can snap Izaya out of this, it would be Shizuo. He had to know that. He had to. There was just so much riding on Izaya surviving Jinnai. Once Jinnai was out of the picture, Izaya could and probably would kill himself with no consequence. Until then, all Kida knew was that Izaya had to win, for Anri's sake, for Shinra's sake, for Shizuo's sake.
For everyone's sake. For Tokyo's sake. Izaya had to win. That was what Kida was thinking as he started to search the streets.

“I said to give him the money, right now!” Shizuo yelled as he bashed a man's head into a cement wall over and over.
“That's enough Shizuo.” Tom said with a sigh as he walked over to the two men. He watched as Shizuo stopped and leaned down to the man, “I suggest you pay up. Or my friend here is going to launch you into next Tuesday.” He said.
Shizuo narrowed his eyes then moved his hand from the mans head and held it out for him to be paid. Both of the men watched the man frantically dig around in his pocket and throw money at them, yell and run away.
Shizuo noticed Tom stand up as he gathered up the cash. He stood up and counted it, “It's still two hundrad short.” Shizuo said, relaxed. Bashing a face against cement was always a great way to relax. Shizuo folded the money up then handed it to Tom who tugged it away. He sighed and looked around, “Should I go after him?” He asked and looked down the alley.
“Nah, let him go.” Tom said, “I'll get him tracked down and punch him in the face for the rest when I see him. Let's go.” Tom said
Both of the men turned around an headed out of the alley. They stopped short when they saw Kida standing there.
Shizuo's eyes narrowed as he looked at the blond boy.
“I'll met you at Russia Sushi, I can handle the next one.” Tom said, patted Shizuo's shoulder then left.
Shizuo nodded to his boss and watched him walk out of site. He then looked at the kid,
“What do you want?”

Kida's smile was bright, as usual, and he trotted up to stand beside Shizuo. There was something in his pure instinct that told him to keep his hands right where Shizuo could see them, and to the side, never in front of with Shizuo. That could and would only be a dangerous thing.
"Look, I know that you said to forget about...well, what happened last month," Kida began. "But I decided to take your advice anyway and so that office party thing. It may help, you know."
He tilted his head to the side, keeping his smile infectious. "But I meant it. As long as you aren't there, it's not going to be very effective. It's like if I tried to hold an intervention for a dear friend of mine and didn't invite our super-hot third that acts as that little point in our little love triangle. So, you want him o come back around so you can chase him? Come to the party."

Shizuo rolled his eyes behind his blue tinted shades, “You are right I dis say forget it and I meant it.” he said then reached out and patted Kida on the head then walked past him. He started to dig around in his pockets looking for a smoke.
He pulled out the pack and pulled on from it with his mouth and sighed as he stopped to light it up. He really needed to stop caring about shit. He took the smoke from his mouth and exhaled, looking Kida up and down, “Shit.” he muttered then turned around and walked back over, taking in a long drag before he exhaled,
“Look. I will help you get it all together and planed and all that, but I will not stay more then an hour.” He said. “I have no reason to stay even that long, but whatever.” his eyes were narrowed as he took another hit from the cigarette.

Kida smiled after Shizuo finally agreed to help, and outright glomped him. That was wonderful news! If Shizuo was going to show up, then he was sure that they could snap Izaya out of it. An hour was all he needed.
The boy landed against his chest, not too surprised by him not falling back and actually being caught, placed back on his feet without a word. His face was split by a giant grin as he gave Shizuo a phone number to contact him with and told him that he would get in touch with him when it came time to finally set up. He trotted off, in a fantastic mood, dialing Saki and telling her that he had come up with a wonderful plan, and that Shizuo was willing to work with them, at least for a while.
Close enough for Kida, at least. He wasn't picky when it came to the kind of help he got for making sure Izaya lasted to see the end of the war.

“Um…” Shizuo grabbed him and set him down and took a step back. He pulled out his cell phone and flipped it open. He nodded and put in the number then texted Kida to put his number in his phone as well. “Alright, I’ll see you around Kida.” He said then shoved the phone back into his pocket and took another hit as he turned around.
He started down the sidewalk and sighed softly; “I can’t believe I am actually going to help him with this and then actually show up for it.” he rolled his eyes and headed for Russia Sushi. He’d meet his boss, have lunch then wait for Kida to contact him. Then they can really start planning for this silly idea that was his.
Shizuo put the cig out and tossed it then walked into the restaurant and waved to Tom, walking over to join him. His mind still wondering what in the hell he was thinking actually doing this. Whatever the reason, he was helping him out.

"Please?"
Kida could make a very tough argument when he wanted to. He promised to do the cooking (so long as he could grill it, mostly) and to do most of the moving of furniture, to make the calls, and to talk to their boss in private before the end of the night.
He even beamed when the final member of the band of misfits that Izaya called a gang sighed and agreed to come with him. What else could he possibly do? There was no other people aside from...
...But Shinra couldn't come. Well, he could, but he'd be stuck on the couch the whole visit. He decided to simply text him and hope he could come. As an afterthought, he sent a text to Anri, telling her to come to Izaya's office and explaining the situation.
With a sigh, he let Mikado's name show up on his screen and slowly typed out a similar text, only giving the address to the office. If he was the same person, Mikado would understand. But those thoughts were forced to the back of his mind as he texted Shizuo, saying that he was on his way and to meet him at the door.

“You arn't cold or anything are ya, Shinra?” Shizuo asked as he pushed the wheelchair down the street. He had picked up Shinra on his way over to Izaya's office. Celty was a bit unsure about letting him go, but he settled on the 'fresh air would do him some good' line and she had seemed to agree. That and he was him Shizuo and no matter what, Izaya was still one of his closest friends.
Shizuo also debated about having his hour start as soon as he showed up but decided against that. He wasn't that much of a Kida. So, the moment Izaya walked through the door was the moment that his hour would begin. After all, he had nothing against his office, just him.
He moved his hands on the handle bars and pushed the chair around the corner. He looked up and saw Izaya's office building come into view.

Shinra looked up at the building, thinking back to Shizuo’s explanation.
He’d been roused from a very pleasant sleep not long ago. He was pretty hyped up on pain medication, but who even cares? His best friend was hurting and he had to help him. Besides, if SHIZUO was worried, something must be REALLY bad.
He’d felt a little bad leaving Celty behind to worry, but it wasn’t like he was going to get stabbed again, and he should get out some anyway. Being bedridden was hella-bad for you, even if rest is mandatory. After all, who wanted bedsores?! Not Shinra, that was for sure.
He rubbed the back of his neck and wiggled his toes, looking up at Shizuo. “I’m alright Shizuo. See? I’m all wrapped up warm in my blankets~!” Shinra smiled, pulling his snuggly blankets around himself. They really were soft; Celty picked them out special for him. They kept him nice and snug in the cold air of Ikebukuro. It was a really beautiful day, though…..
He hoped Izaya could enjoy it.

Shizuo nodded as they moved closer to the building, “Last thing I need is for you to get sick on top of everything else. I think Celty would have my head.” He said with a soft sigh.
When they finally got to the building he opened the door then pulled the chair in and walked around. He grabbed the elevator then pushed Shinra into it and stood behind him. Once he had the button pressed up they went. The short ride was silent, aside from the slight squeak from the chair.
When they got tot he hallway, he pulled out his phone and sent a text to Kida, telling him they were here. With it sent he started to push him down the hallway. He hoped that Kida would get it soon enough that the door would be open for them. Last thing he wanted to do was fight with another door.
Shizuo peeked down the hall and cracked a smile, glad that Kida has gotten his text, “Hey.” He said wheeling Shinra into the office and past Kida.

Kida smiled as he saw Shizuo and Shinra. "Hey guys. Glad you could make it. Shinra, you comfortable? I just gotta cook dinner and move some furniture, and by that time everyone should be here. It's...mostly associates, but they'll show up since they know it's me cooking and not someone that would say, put antifreeze in Izumi's tea." Not that he's considered it or anything. "I mean, come on, who would do that? Saki or Mikage might pick it up on accident."
He picked the lock rather easily; he's done it so many times that Izaya knew that only Kida could possibly be so intimately familiar with his doorknob and stopped being so on edge about it.
The office was immaculate, of course. Changing this ought to be fun.
"Alright, guys." Kida put the groceries on the table and stretched. "Shinra-sensei gets put next to the long desk, the couches and table get moved against this wall, the loft gets closed off, and drinks will probably go at the edge, away from the computers...."

Shizuo nodded and moved Shinra around the room then set him there. “Just yell if ya need anything.” He said then took off his sunglasses and tucked them into his inner vest pocket. He then popped the button on the sleeves of his shirt then started to roll one sleeve up then the other.
“I’ll start moving the shit. I mean furniture around.” Shizuo said as he walked around. He looked around the office and sighed then grabbed the chair and drug it around almost as if it weighed nothing. The same with the couch and other chairs, standing back he nodded.
He looked up at Kida, “That good enough?” asked as he crossed his arm over his shoulder and stretched his shoulder. He still had no idea why he was here and why he was helping, he originally wanted nothing to do with this. He just wanted to give someone the idea.
“Will there be alcoholic drinks?” Shizuo asked, “Spending a civil hour in a room with Izaya. I’m going to need a drink...” he said, “Our three.” he added softly under his breath as he looked around the room.

Kida snickered, already using a mini grill to start prepping the meat before it got tossed into the hot pot to cook with the rest of the ingredients. "Yes, Shizuo-san, the office has a full service bar, help yourself. Just follow the desk line, you'll find it. Pour me something, while you're at it. I'm gonna have to be nice to my coworkers."
The amount of alcohol, of course, was just a cup of wine, nothing too bad, just enough to loosen up. He doubted Izaya would care too greatly, and if he did, he could simply just take everything out of the paycheck that was coming up soon.
Finally, the hotpot was ready, the Dragons arrived, and now, they just sat in wait as Kida sent Izaya a text that he simply wouldn't ignore, no matter how much he wanted to.
Who is in your office? That was all it would take.

Izaya… just didn't know anymore. He didn't know how to feel or what to do or how he was supposed to defeat an evil psycho whose face changed every time Izaya turned his head.
And Izaya wasn't stupid. He'd met tons of suicidal people, both the genuine ones and the ones who were faking it. He knew that the number one reason that people committed suicide had nothing to do with getting dumped or failing a class or missing a promotion or anything like that. No, people committed suicide because they lost control. When people felt like there wasn't anything left in their life that they had control over… they killed themselves, because it was the one thing that they could decide completely for themselves.
Even knowing that didn't stop the resounding helplessness that often consumed his thoughts.
Because in the past few months, every ounce of Izaya's control, every structure Izaya had established to maintain influence throughout the city had been slowly disintegrating, Izaya's mental stability disintegrating along with it.
He couldn't trace it back to the exact point it had all started. Maybe it had been as simple as Saki defying him and getting him punched. Maybe it was the way Simon had called him out on a desire that Izaya thought was hidden, so hidden that he'd been denying it to himself for years.
Maybe that was why he'd sent that girl after Shizuo with a taser tweaked to give a lethal dose of electricity, to prove to himself and everyone else that he could live without the man, if need be.
Or maybe it started when Shinra held a party and invited everyone except him.
In the end, none of that mattered. Any one of those things could have started Izaya down this path. None of those things might have. Ultimately, it wouldn't matter what started him down this slippery slope so much as figuring what it would take to get off of it.
If he could get off of it.
He knew that it was Shinra being attacked that really set him on edge. There were few things that happened in the city that Izaya wasn't aware of. There were even fewer things that Izaya couldn't cause or prevent if he really wanted to, but… then Kisuke Adabashi appeared. Kisuke came and attacked Shinra, broke every bone in his body, tortured the man to the point of death and left him, and Izaya hadn't known about it, hadn't been able to do anything to stop it or protect Shinra.
Revenge though, that he could handle. Even if it wouldn't make Shinra better, Izaya needed something. After finding Kisuke wandering the streets, suffering from second and third degree burns, he'd locked Kisuke away in his basement for days; he thought he'd enjoy slowly torturing the man for what he had done, but… he'd only felt numb. The man's screams had given him no sense of satisfaction. Eventually, he'd abandoned him and the man died of infection from the untreated burns.
He'd grown more and more despondent since then. Jinnai was still on the loose and he changed his identity so frequently that by the time Izaya got a picture of his face, it had already changed. How the hell was he supposed to track someone like that? More importantly… how was he supposed to defeat him?
Even still, Izaya tried to stick to a schedule. He tried to stay active, and engage in his usual business. It was just hard; he felt so… drained. He felt like he hadn't slept in days, even though every time he tried to sleep, he tossed and turned for hours before getting any actually sleeping done. He hadn't even had the time to let Shizuo chase after him, which was usually the one thing he could always pick himself up for.
It had been another long day and Izaya was just ready to go home and collapse, but then… he got a strange text from Kida, asking him… who was in his office.
Izaya heart, fluttered uncomfortably at the thought. Was Kida just messing with him? Or was… someone actually in his office? Someone who shouldn't be? Immediately, Izaya knew he needed to know—and Kida wouldn't have sent such a cryptic message if he hadn't meant for Izaya to check it out. With a heavy sigh, Izaya put his coat back on and headed back out to his office, getting their as quickly as he could in case damage was being done or… something. He hurried upstairs and, without hesitation, opened the door…

Kida was busy trying to keep Ran and Mikage separated, one arm across Ran's chest and his free hand on Mikage's shoulder, pushing them apart, when the door burst open.
Everyone paused, Kida in his position, Mikage with her hands on Ran's arm, ready to toss him, Ran with his hand going for Kida's throat. Kine was sitting silently at the table, making sure everything looked straight, and Haruna's head simply snapped up from where she was trying to ignore the mess that was Kida and Ran in the same room.
Namie's head was still against the table. She really didn't want to have anything to do with the three-way going on directly behind her, but she was pretty sure Kida'd be the bitch.
Finally, Kida managed to work himself free from the two, roughly shoving Ran and gently pushing Mikage back to where they had been sitting a few moments before the threats began. Really, if Kida wasn't so sure that they hated each other to the very core, he would think there was something going on behind the scenes that no amount of alcohol would be able to wash from his brain and why was he even thinking of the perverted degenerate doing anything remotely sexual to someone as pretty as Mikage when he could have and almost had done not-at-all-remotely sexual things with Saki, his girl, his love.
Maybe tonight he'd just neuter Ran.
And that thought earned the end of the second cup of wine for the night, and he smiled at Izaya. "Hey, good you made it! We thought it'd be pretty cool to have an office party, since you seemed like you were wanting to spend as much time away from the office as humanly possible. I mean, come one, offices don't have to just be a place for work." Kida gave a wink and poured that cup of wine he wanted so badly, giving one final warning glare at Ran, hoping the message of "anything that touches her you won't be getting back" was loud and clear.
He would just ignore the fact that he could see those stupid blue eyes rolling behind those unnecessarily dark shades. Now was not the time, and tonight was not the night.
With that, he drank.
